I don't see a board for Asia, so I will post this here.

Has anyone ever fished in Taiwan? I will be there for three weeks this summer, mostly in Yilan (宜蘭), which is in the northeast part of Taiwan. It is close to the ocean, and there are also rivers and canals there.

If anyone is from there or has fished there, please give me some tips on places to fish and species to target. Thanks!

I wish I could help; hopefully there will be some of the Ohana that have local knowledge.  And I am really looking forward to hearing to fishing tales from there.  Good luck! - john

Thanks, John! I will report here if we do any interesting fishing in Taiwan.

Might be worth a PM to Kil Song (ksong).
He's fished a lot in South Korea (eg https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,29356.0.html), which is in the neighbourhood at least...
He may have some experience or insight on Taiwan.
Looking forward to your post-trip report!
Good luck, Justin

There are many pay to catch places to catch shrimp and fishes that they stock. If you want to fish rivers, ponds, and saltwater then you will have to ask the locals or befriend them. Taiwanese love to fish. I have been to Shicheng and Fenniaolin Fishing Harbor only to do fishing. The problem is getting to these fishing spots. I don't know the name of the fishes but they tasted good. Some of my fish took lures and some on bait such as sea worms and cut squid.
