I live in Houston and Houston is not a good place to grow longan tree as it very sensitive to cold weather .In the last 7 years we have hard freeze every year that all orange tree and grape fruit are die . 6 years ago my sister in law sent us some longan fruit from Florida that she grows , we ate them and grow seed in a pot ,the tree grow so quick that the roots go through the pot and go deep in soil so I can't move it and have to cut the pot to lets it grow at that spot .Last year I put the stone around and leave a space for tree to grow . It been survival 6 years through winter and this year it start have some fruit , fruit are small right now but I think it will get big by the fall

Great looking tree.  Do you think a longan tree would grow in the desert in Yuma AZ if given enough water?
Nine of the eleven voices in my head are telling me to go fishing today.

I really don't know , I know they grow well in southern CA and FL . Never hear they grow in AZ . However I don't see no other can grow in Houston either

Longon are related to lychee tree.  To make a lychee tree set fruit you have to beat the trunk and make the tree think it might die.
