I've been designing and printing custom fly boxes and various gear and rigging boxes, mostly for friends and some members here.  Decided it was time to make something for myself again.   I wanted a right-sized box for taking my jig designs up to Port Hardy for my  visit with  our member Hardy Boy.  I prefer permanent dividers over removable ones, and since I know what I plan to put inside, I don't have to compromise.

I ended up going with a comic book/graphic novel style for the artwork.   It is supposed to be a Canary Rockfish. More dramatic than my normal graphics, but I sort of like it.

Printed out a matching o-ring seal out of flexible polyurethane filament,  The box is very water resistant, but not enough to stay watertight under submersion for a long  time.

All loaded up with my own jigs.

Yeah, very nice and customized. Good portrayal of a Rockfish.

Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Nice job, I guess there's more to you than pizza!

For this size (around 250x150mm with 2 mm walls), about 6 hours each for the lid and base, but it needs minimal babysitting once the graphics layer is done. The graphics are printed right into the lid by swapping in and out different colored plastic filaments. The lid and graphics are essentially a set of nested parts that fit together with a zero clearance, so it all fuses together.  Even hobby printers are insanely accurate.
