I received an email from Pirate Ship that notified me of USPS Changes (Effective July 12, 2026)

Heads up if you ship rods, reels, or tackle or are buying from vendors, the USPS rates are increasing:

  • Rod Shippers (DIM Weight): The Dimensional Weight divisor is dropping from 166 to 139 (Length X Width # Height / 139). Long, light rod tubes will face higher rates more often.
  • Rounding Up: Fractional inches now round up to the next whole inch. Measure the outside of the box, not the internal printed dimensions.
  • AK / HI / PR / Military: Ground Advantage packages under 1 lb lose ounce-based pricing. Shipping a 2 oz lure costs the same as a 15.99 oz package.
  • Cubic Pricing: Max length for Cubic rates increases from 18 to 22 inches (good for multi-piece travel rods). Softpack tiers are cut from 10 to 5.
  • Oversized Penalty:  A strict $200 fee is being introduced for oversized/overweight packages.

💡 Bottom Line: Pack tight, use the smallest box possible, and measure exterior dimensions accurately to avoid surprise fees.
