Quote from: oldmanjoe on July 09, 2026, 08:08:39 PMThat is the first time that I seen two springs for a bail .    Are there any other examples ?

Actually quite a few around in the vintage days, and some more lately in the last 40-50 years.

Couple that come to mind are the DAM Quick 250 Standards and the SW68's.

And then of course, the ABU/Zebco Cardinals with the the fulcrum drags.

And a few others.

:)  learned something new , I assume they are fine wire springs verses heavier wire spring to pull the bail over .

Pretty much the same gauge/diameter as what you see on the Dam Quick coil bail springs.

The ABU Cardinal 50 and 150 series and Zebco Cardinal 550 series rear drag reels also have coil springs on both sides of the bail.
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)
