There are alot of great reels out there  missing them & the emblem just makes it complete.

Producing a few hundred emblems for reels made 50 years ago is not something we would consider at this time.  We appreciate the support of our Brand!  Thank you.

If someone made aftermarket emblems would there be any copyright infringements to be considered ?

A service for us as die hard PENN collector guys,not just to make a buck,is my thinking.

Regardless of Penn's response, I don't think it would be possible to get rid of them with enough return to cover production expenses.  You would need to get some quantity of pieces made for each model number too.  Much of the market segment is right here and reading this.  Show of hands?? 

A guy on ebay replicated the Alcedo Micron kingfisher emblem.  He had them listed for years and likely gave up instead of selling out.

If the project was a roaring success, reel collectors would make a distinction between original emblems and reproduction emblems. A reproduction emblem would be like a re-painted greenie.  As with re-painting, the reel would be priced accordingly.

There would be no concerns making an after-market part for this discontinued emblem on top of a discontinued side plate on top of a discontinued reel that has been off the market for nearly 50 years.  Just a heads up, I have had many people attempt to go down this path before on other discontinued parts, and I agree with oc1 statement.  Thank you.

I'm not sure if its the same guy, but the Alcedo Micron kingfisher emblem are still for sale at $15.

I looked a while back for my reel and still have the book mark to them. Can't bring myself to purchasing one at that price.

That's the main issue with reproducing emblems, recovering cost requires higher piece pricing just to break even.

Also there's a lot more Penn reels and Penn collectors/enthusiasts out there than... Alcedo micron enthusiasts. At least that's my impression. So it's not quite an apples to apples comparison.

I spoke with the Alcedo guy years ago  & he said he would try to do Penn emblems,but would need samples to go by.Who wants to let go of them with out getting them back.I am sure he would return seems like a great guy.
