Back to old time before the internet ,fishing skill learn from someone teach you ,your experience or some book or magazine . The book that help me catch fish are "Roland Martin 101 fish catching secret " Books from The Infishermen like Walleye wisdom and Crappie wisdom .These really help me catching fish . All of these only for fresh water fish
  For salt water fish What 's book that really help you catch more fish ?

It's regional authors for me, and growing up here in the islands we had:

Pacific Shore Fishing—-Mike Sakamoto

Fishing HI Style series—-Jim Rizzuto

How to Hook & Cookbook—-Mike Sakamoto

Shore Fishing in Hawaii—-Edward Hosaka

Hawaii Goes Fishing—-Jean Scott Mckellar

The last two were published during the wartime years, (or in the 50's just shortly after), and are a treasure trove of vintage gear and techniques during their heyday.

There was also the T.V. show series "Let's Go Fishing" with Harry Kojima along with Mike Sakamoto's "Fishing Tales". These peaked during the 80's and 90's and were good fun to watch.

  When I got serious about fishing, back in the 80's, the most useful book I found was Hook,Line and Sinker: The Complete Angler's Guide to Terminal Tackle. By Gary Soucie. It compared all varieties of hooks, snaps, swivels, weighting systems and lines and when and why to choose one.
  I still find it useful, although it obviously isn't up to date as far as modern braids and fluorocarbon.

Spoon plugging aka mapping bottom/contours trolling, but with modern sonars I spend more time studying any existing maps or for a new water body, I map it first by driving in a chess grid.

Here is the issue with fishing- most of the water has no fish most of the time, it is like hedging bets, what Buck's books is valuable for is the knowledge - how to gauge all the variables and then narrow down fishing areas.

The Call of the Surf by Van Campen Heilner is generally considered the first book on surf fishing. It was published in 1920, before the modern drag or anti-reverse were around, and when split cane rods were the exciting new improvement over solid wood rods.

I can't say I learned much technique from it, if any. But if you read that book and aren't struck by a desire to go surf fishing more often (which will lead to catching more fish), check your pulse.

It takes a few chapters to confirm that the "channel bass" the author speaks of with such reverence are in fact redfish/red drum.
