Hey, all!

I decided to pair my newly restored and customized, 1936 Hardy Altex n°2 mk.IIII reel with this 1960's 2 piece García Conolon 2133T 6' ultra light action rod, that, itself, has been customized, with a late 1970's Fuji Grip handle and vintage Mt.Fuji stainless steel guides with ceramic eyelets.

The large free spool guide is articulated with a spring loaded folding armature, that allows it to fit in a storage tube and also gives flex cushion when line tension is applied.

Whoever did the resto mod on the Conolon, did very well wrapping the guides in a beautiful black and gold pattern.

Goes very nice with the black finish and brightwork of the Hardy.

Garcia Conolon rods are above excellent in function, action, sensitively, and capability.

I have an old new Fenwick SP 541 honey-colored vintage new blank that I had my rod guy install that same Fuji handle onto, along with UL ceramic guides.

Paired it with a nearly near vintage UL Shimano Spirex 500FA.

It is a fantastic finesse fishing rig.  The feel between the rod, reel, handle, and the angler is as one.

Never fished it.  For sale.

The thing I love about the Fuji Grip, is that when reel is placed in seat pocket and handle butt is secured, the way the flexible rubber grip tubes, for lack of better description, encapsulate the entire reel foot, protecting it from handling wear on the finish.

I have never seen a reel seat like this.

Pretty awesome, as the entire reel foot is secured as one within the pole handle.

 Ultra feel finesse!

Oh yeah. The old fold down stripper guide. Ain't ever had one with the ceramic insert. I remember my first surf rod a Daiwa, had one, handy-dandy.

Yeah, pretty unique. Spring action helps tension relief, too.
