Crawdad trap/stocking the creek

I found a great spot to catch baitfish on the dock ladder.There is a good stand of algae on the ladder & I noticed fish always hanging out there why,it has baby bream swarming around it. So I put the crawdad trap on the 3rd step just under the water.
Everytime I check it has 50+ baby bream in it without  even baiting the trap.

I have moved 133 baby bream to the creek this week. My grandsons like to catch bass bait with a bream buster #10 hook, It's nice & shady there.

I will have plenty of crappie bait &
keep the pond from overpopulating &
Increase the creek fishery. I throw fish food out
Every time before I leave the creek.

Good thing you're not in Nebraska, because it's illegal to "release into public waters of the state any fish that did not originate from that body of water, including the dumping of bait buckets." and "transport any fish or bait fish in any water from any stream, river, pond or lake."

They're sticklers about those regulations here, including transporting fish in your livewell, to avoid the spread of invasive species and aquatic vegetation. It's a pretty healthy fine if you get caught doing any of them.

If you want to transport fish in your livewell you better get the water from an onsite well hydrant or bring potable water from home. 🤯🙄

Too many baby bream means you need to stock with more bass and don't remove big bass

Nice! We don't have crawdads here but do have Tahitian prawns.

Childhood times used to make traps out of square five gallon buckets and one gallon water jugs.

Leave them overnight in the streams and return the next morning to collect our bait.

Pond management; sounds like a labor of love.
I recommend you don't go up to Nebraska and do any stocking. Just about anything living cannot legally be brought back to the mainland from here.

But does that creek traverse your land from and to other lands? If so it's considered public waters.

My spillway runs over into the creek through the woods sometimes during heavy rains so it happens naturally anyway.I have caught bowfin, bullhead cats & one redfin pike in my pond,none of which were stocked.Yes it is a very good thing I am not in Nebraska

Most agencies have become sticklers about transporting any aquatic stuff for fear of introducing exotic species.  Back in the good ole' days the government was in charge of introducing exotic species and they were just moving everything everywhere.  So, here we are.

Theory is it may have caused fast growing huge mutant agressive sharks.

Doesn't your creek connect to your pond?

It doesn't connect directly, but during a rain the spillway water can reach the creek. So fish could go back & forth if they wish to. The creek starts & stops on my land. I have had 4-four foot alligators over the years, beavers, otters, osprey, kingfishers, great blue herring, deer, turkeys, wild hogs, coyotes,bobcats, & one black bear on trail cam. You name it...I will never go hungry
