Always wanted a Hardy Altex but never wanted to pay what it took to get one. Good friend from the San Diego vicinity sent me this beautiful specimen!

Not until winter. The rest of this month, all of Oct. and at least the first half of Nov. will be spent fishing with my wife everyday that the weather and/or wind allow.

Actually I'll be surprised if it is going to need a whole lot of work. It's circa 1950ish, but it looks and works almost like a new reel.

The process probably won't be a whole lot different than those that Woodbilly documented, just a little bigger reel.
