Couple quick questions:
1.  Was it working fine before working on it?
2.  Do you still have all the originals for the parts you replaced?
Pretty much only two things (but unfortunately also very broad) could have happened.  On assembly either something didn't go back together just right (extra washer, etc) and/or a replacement part might not be exactly identical to what it was replacing (for example new drag stack significantly taller/shorter than old drag stack).  Either way, time to disassemble and diagnose. - john

if the handle becomes more difficult to turn when you tighten the drag, that usually indicates a spacing issue.  the star is bottoming out.  make sure that the bellevilles are oriented in the "()" position, and not the "((" or "))" position, and that you did not forget to include an original spacing washer under the star.

there is a second possibility.  the anti-reverse pawl keeper (key #306) might be reversed.  you would hear a scraping noise when you tighten down the drag and then try to turn the handle.

and lastly, the old carbontex drag sets from 20 years ago, had a drag washer that was too thin.  it's the drag washer that went under the main gear.  we used to have to use a penn h-100 #6-113h drag in its place.  dawn at smoothdrag fixed that problem, so it's not something that i would expect with a recently purchased drag set.

can you check and let us know?  thanks!  alan
