I hoping to sneak away for a hour or two during the upcoming family vacation at Moss Beach.

Anyone got any recommendations on where I should try?

San Gregorio Beach if you can squeeze it in.  South jetty in Granada is easy to get to for a quick stop.

The walk along the cliff trails at redondo beach is really nice and leads you to the ritz carlton, which is all public.  No parking fees there and the sunsets are really nice.
I fish because the voices in my head tell me to.

Thanks for the intel. Now hopefully I can sneak away and give it a try

I suggest visiting the harbor vs surf fishing.

Small strip mall, boat slips, both first responders, commercial and recreational fishers, fish processor.

Which harbor?

I'm presuming he is speaking about Princeton harbor. There's a small fishing pier on the north side of the harbor, but it can be limiting. It's really close to the restaurant Barbara's crab trap.
