Missing some metal drag washers. The dark colored one in the metal washer column is delrin. Also, in this picture, I have one of those rubber washer(water resistant?) top-hat washers. You can have that, too.
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

Oh-oh, no post picture part. Try again...

Note also the initials "CN" on the flange in your last photo, CN= Carl Newell.

It's a Californis reel.
The initials WJN are carved on both side plates.
Is it possible that this reel belonged to a family member?
Did he have a son?

My brother purchased a few reels from Mr Newell's son, but his name does not start with a "W".

Not sure if Carl had any other relatives with those initials, perhaps someone on here from CA would know?

Hi Greg.
I really appreciate it.
That is a different series than mine, isn't it?
The inner parts look the same.
I'm thinking freight from Hawaii to Florida would be very expensive.
How much are you looking to get?
Is that rubber seal an aftermarket item?
Thanks!

I have both the maroon and the red 114H. The maroon probably had a chrome spool when new like mine did. The parts will interchange between your reel and Greg's. Look at the beautiful main gears in those two reels. Not that junk with the plastic bushing that Pure Fishing is pushing on us now. Eight screws in the sideplates, not five. How I wish that dung heap PF would go under.

I was able to find a NOS Penn alum 1/2 frame and a NOS PENN alum spool for the maroon reel. When I bought the red one I found that Mo at Mystic Parts had Penn alum spacer bars for cheap because they were blems. It already had an alum spool.

I also have a 114HLW with Penn full alum frame and alum spool that a guy sold cheap because it was binding. The plastic bushing in the main gear was worn out and cockeyed in the gear. I'm sure he paid a lot of money for that reel new and it failed him like that out in the Gulf.

How much are "cheap" spacer bars?

Mystic has new front and rear alum bars
Senator 114HL parts list
Item 37C $15.65
Item 37N $16.50
Plus shipping

They're all over ebay, both new and used, but I like doing business with Mystic, Mo is a member here, and they've always treated me well. Fishgrain on ebay, also a member here, is another great source for new and used Senator parts. In fact he has a new Penn 114 alum 1/2 frame and spool combo for $99. And don't forget Randy, Vintage Offshore Tackle. I've bought Newell kits, reels, parts from him, great to do business with.

I really like those maroon Special Senators I hope you can find a good right plate for yours. A few weeks ago I picked up a Special Senator 113H along with a Mariner 49. I visited that same yard sale three times and saw the same two saddest looking Penn reels ever side by side huddled together. I swear they were calling to me. "Help us. Help us." So they came home with me for $15 each. Senators and Mariners, it's a sickness I tell you.

Cortez Conversion has SS gearsleves for the 349/349H, I will be putting some on the reels I fish.

Here is a bit less than 1/2 of my 349/349 reel horde.

My 5 washer drag modification with the original asbestos drag washers lower right.

Gotta love 'em. I just wish I had been around here when Randy was selling his YO-YOs. That was the perfect Mariner. I tried on and off for two years to get Tiburon to revive it for me but they just wouldn't give me a price. Finally they told me it was Randy's reel and they needed his OK to do it. Randy was okay with it but they just dropped it at that point. Don't understand why they just wouldn't say "no we're not interested".

I have Newell and Tiburon spools on several of mine.  I also have every one of the Cortex Conversions frames, including an all metal 349H.

Right after Penn discontinued the 349/349H reels in 1985 I started picking up every one I found for parts and buying any parts I ran across.  Later on I started cutting 5 metal drag washer sets for both the 349 and 349H and SS AR Dogs. Unwarped original spools are hard to fins.
