I'm 'bout ready for a Catamaran. Age is getting to me and the Hobie ain't cutting it no more . The problem on the outer Islands(anywhere that's not Oahu/Honolulu) is availability or shipping costs/hassle. Just getting a good usable battery(but definitely not ideal for a kayak) means barge transport from Honolulu, $$$. Got a good usable motor, but came all the way from Florida, where there seems to be many dealers.

I picked up a 1999 18ft seagull nautico.
The floors solid, transoms like a rock and all was good until I discovered a crack in thr starboard hull. Nothing major but enough to let about a gallon of water in over the course of 4-5 hours. Instead of cutting a hole in the floor and patching it I decided im going to tear it down to the bare hull and build it from the ground up with all composite materials and move the console to the front. I plan to put two 25 gallon gas tanks below deck too to clean it all up. It currently had a 40 gallon tank in the console.
Time and funds have kept it a dream so far.

Was out the weekend after Labor Day and saw a guy pulling away from the dock with an inflatable.  Don't see too many of those on freshwater lakes here in Minnesota.  Looked like a nice rig.  When he came back in, I wanted to see how he transported the thing.  It seemed to come out of the water on its own wheels (no trailer).  I didn't see how he deflated it, but when he drove away, all he had was a small sport ute and no trailer of any kind.  The no trailer part and apparent ease of transporting the thing caught my interest.  Not sure what kind of motor he had, but would guess a large electric.
