Geez Sal, I have one 12yr. old 750ss on a Penn Slammer, safe to assume I'm grossly under equipped!!!! It always works well tho, I'll pick your brain to do some upgrades on it later.

Sal,

Im so glad I revisited this post of your reels. You singularly have resparked my interest in spinners (not enough to go out and buy another one). Especially after rebuilding the six that I own and servicing about 10 others.

FRIGGING FANTASTIC COLLECTION SAL!!!!!!!  ive see recent pictures of your parts collection as well and I must say: I'M TRULLY IMPRESSED. Now for the six million dollar question: Do you have rods for each real? I also asked this question in my post regarding "ROD STORAGE" in the fishing rod section.

Working on spinners vs conventional is sort of like twisting your thought process from logarithmic to exponential. I enjoy the change of thought and find its like figuring out a new twist to a problem/puzzle. Ive got much respect for your expertise with spinners and enjoying the heck out of playing with "THE TANK".

KEEP IT UP SAL,

Leo

I HAVE AT LEAST 12 BAIT CASTER THAT I USE, FOR FRESH WATER. JUST GOT AN ORDER IN FROM BASS PRO. THE WIFE SAYS YOU DON'T NEED MORE DAMN WORMS. THIS ISN'T WORMS THERE CRANKS AND MORE P-LINE.

THEY JUST DON'T UNDER STAND.

Hello Leo, I'm glad you're enjoyng them. As for having a rod for each reel, no, I do not.
I don't invest too much in rods. If they feel right to me, I'll buy a few more. One of my favorite's is the Ugly Stik by Shakespeare, a 6'6" one-piece medium action rod. I believe it costs around $35 and it has been working out for me.
I also have a few Spinnfishers and Slammer by Penn, 10' medium action two-piece rods for the beach, along with a couple of Beef Stik 11' by Daiwa (also a medium action).
These are only for my spinners.

You're right Holeinthewater, they don't ;).

sal       what a beautiful display, great, fantastic, etc etc ,  to me words just can't explain how great your collection is, i have a bunch of conventionals and my wife shakes her head,  my reply is,   i don't smoke, drink, gamble and eat crazy that the remains go into the cesspool,  my collection is my hobby, it doesn't hurt anybody,  it doesn't come out of house money and it's an investment, things get bad , i can sell a bunch , but it would take something drastic, i collect as a hobby, not to sell for profit.    my best to you,   fantastic.        harry

Like my wife tells me,if they are where I can't see them all I'm happy.Until she opened a couple of totes in the garage and saw the reels I got to refurb at garage sales this summer.Boy she came unglued that she didn't get to help.Guess I better take her next weekend,at least she understands. You know they have more money wrapped up in a purse than I have in a dozen reels,300 for a hand bag and thats a cheap one.Shop till you drop.

Hey Sal,

What are those optic-green/orange tags that are on some of your reels for? Im so impressed I just had to look at your collection again in amazement. For I was thinking of the museum quality of your collection and how much of a "curator" you are. So, as the Nazi's had the "SS" and your fond of Penn SS spinners, Ill think of you now on as "The SS Curator" and "The TANK Man". I dont get speechless often Sal and all I can do when I look at your spinners is shake my head in awe and respect.

Leo

Hello Leo, the tags are to remind me what I've done to the reels, as if they have been serviced / ss dogs / brass gears and so on. The stickers are not affected by grease. I used to use them as targets at the shooting range, now my shoulder can't take it anymore. This was one thing that my wife enjoyed with me, then one day I woke up and told her that it wasn't a good idea for her to come along ::). Now I get more rest at night ;).

You know, it has been a while since I posted those, some left the house since then and some had babies  ;D

The little one are harder to find in new condition and will usually cost you more.

The SS is a nice reel, but I also have a couple of Z's

Penn made a great move bringing back some of these, I'm a fan again. Great company!
The left hand reels are not easy to find.
