Open question for you guys has anyone replaced the grease impregnated graphite washers with carbontex and if so did you smear them with grease?

G'day and welcome kbad,
I did a Carbontex upgrade on this Saltiga Z40 (http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=2912.0) a few months after doing the service shown here and greased lightly with Cal's.
This reel gets a work-out as it's owned by a charter operator.
It's still going strong and he's happy with the drag range/quality.
Hope that's of some assistance.
Cheers, Justin

the newer saltigas have carbon fiber drag washers already.  the most i would do is grease them with cals grease.  otherwise, you should be fine.  they do not need to be replaced.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

Thanks for that Alan the one i was working on was an older model that had graphite washers in it.

yeah, the hard carbon drag washers.  those have to go.  go to smoothdrag.com and get a set of drags and some drag grease.
