You may want to contact Randy Kao at RandyHKao@aol.com and inform him of your finding with your reel.  He may have a replacement part for you, and if it's a manufacturing defect, he will usually replace those for free if available.  It's quite possible that bearing cup is to be used on a different reel.

:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D
