I have been rebuilding this one for a friend and have run into a problem, the spool seems to have come apart as in the sides of the spool have separated from the spindle. The sides will turn but the spindle does not as in spooling it with line the sides revolve but center does not so you cannot spool line on it. Is this as simple as replacing the spool or can it be repaired.
Thanks, Mark

Please take a look in here:

In there is an old ambassadeur with "separated" spool sides... maybe this is similar to your case?
If so I think it can be fixed. The story tells how.

Here's Mike's blurb on this type of spool.......you can DIY, if it's not too severe.  http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/7000-spool-repair-p-102222.html

Hi. Usually, threaded to the arbor. See the two lines one on each side of the spool, where the sides come into the arbor. If the threads are stripped, then Mike's style of pinning is the best option.
