Saltist 30TH

Hi Alan,

I have a saltist 30 TH that has been giving drag problems. i would button the drag down and would get very little drag pressure. So i bought carbontex drags and added a extra shim to the star drag so the drag would engage quicker with less turns. anyways after installing on the upgraded parts I'm still only getting about 12lbs of max drag when i button it down. I don't understnad why im not getting 18-20lbd off drag. Can you tell me what the problem could be? Also I wanted to say thank you for all your posts throughout the site. I have learned a lot from you and truly value your work.

Today I just received my saltist 30TH. I'm facing the same problem bottom out at 7 to 8 lbs of drag. What I did i opened the reel to inspect the stock drag was rather dry indeed with a light coat of grease. I removed all the  drags and gears to cleaned and re apply Cal grease with a reasonable coat on the drags on both sides. Now i'm bottoming out at 23lbs of drag. Tight Lines.
