excessive spool play?loose worm shaft? spheros 14000FA

my reel has a lot of play(shimano spheros 14000FA) with the main shaft.I opened the casing and the play seems to be coming from the worm shaft. I looked on the schematics and there are front and rear worm bushings  and spacers.I put the reel back together till I order parts,(hopefully still avail.)my question is should I try to dissemble the reel again to inspect the worm shaft and idle gear for damage? or should I order the whole assembly (worm shaft/idle gear/bushing and spacers)? my orig. plan was to order the bushings and spacers.is faliure of  a worm shaft/idle gear common? would this be a fix for the pro's or should i give it a try?thanks
