does anyone know if the 5:1 gears from a 505hs will if in a 500L 4:1 reel. im on the hunt for a kingfish reel. The reel needs to hold 250 to 300 of 30 pound mono have a  high gear ratio and i like to say under 250 im open to ideas and suggestions.

They won't fit without some customisation, but it is possible.

Yes you can with a newell gear set like http://www.ebay.com/itm/Newell-Fishing-Reels-/221060213278?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3378372a1e.

I would also recommend a SS gear sleeve like the one from MysticParts or from Alan Tani if you are doing the gears upgrade as well.
