I have been thinking about getting some regular smoothies for my 4/0 to try with my Accurate Conversion instead of Carbontex. I am not an expert. How do you guys compare the two washers in performance?

G'day Ben,
There's an element of personal preference, but greased Carbontex is generally more popular.
Smoothies should be run dry as they're impregnated with lube.
While a little grease may not hurt, it'll reduce the drag capacity and can make 'em sticky.
I only run greased CF...
Hope that helps.
Cheers, Justin

Hi Ben,

I heard that smoothies are very good in cold weather, but I too use greased carbon fiber washers, and now have switched to the light Cal's grease if the reels will be used in cold conditions based on Lee's experiment between the two greases.

:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

I don't have the Smoothies anymore in this size, only carbon fiber.

I guess that solves that question.

Okay. Appreciate the help everyone! I will stick with the Carbontex.
