I had a question about the avet lx i want to know if there is a difference in casting distance on a magnetic cast from a one with not haveing cast control. Im asking because i surf fish and distance is a must...thank you for any help

yes   the magnetic damping will have a slightly negative impact on cast distance.

Once you learn to cast the avet without the MC it's one of the best casting reels out there.
I had the MC and removed the magnet, and went from casting a 6 oz prob 70 yards with MC set on 1 , to over 100 yards easily.

The magnet on the MC models is way too strong IMO, and even on the 1 setting you can cast a 6 oz without thumbing the spool at all and get no fluff
