Penn 25 GLS

My brother's 25 GLS was having drag issues, had some corrosion on outside and hinted that it was a mess in the guts. I have it apart, a little different in there than the 40 GLS in the tutorial shown here.  This reel has a steel drive-plate assembly (#117), when I took it apart fiber drag-washer stayed with spool and bits of it were stuck to plate. On scarping away the bits I see the plate is pitted pretty good.  There is corrosion on either side of plate but bearings all look good. I am not finding a replacement plate or drag washer for this reel, is there an upgrade I can use?  Can I just resurface the plate and run with it?  Am I understanding that the drag washer was supposed to be fixed to the plate?

the 25 gls drag is very simple.  i should have a few somewhere, but it will be a while before i get back and get situated.  in the meantime, you can get some from mysticparts.com
