check the spool anyway.  it is possible that -

the spool could be slipping on the spool shaft

the line could be slipping on the spool

the drag stack could be slipping because the metal washers are out of order

or the star is not properly pressing down on the drag stack.

those are the common causes. it has to be in there, somewhere.   :-\

By metal washer he means the belleville washers I was talking about. The ones that go on like-  ()
When they flatten you loose drag range and top end power.  Ive bought brand new Abu's that had this problem out of the box, all Revo's.  The factory packs the reel with the drag engaged and they sit in the tightened position for long periods of time loosing their effectiveness.

got it!  let me try..
I bent the washer () with a pliers and hammer to make it more curvy, and I cleaned up the reel and the drags and most important - apply Cal's grease.  It has better drag now.

Thank you all so much!!
