penn 9500ss help slient dog lever

Hi boys just got my hands on a penn 9500ss usa model

There is one problem with the reel.When i switch the silenet dog lever under the spool the noise cuts out when i turn the handle witch is fine but i also when i turn the handle in revese it lets me but it shouldnt be doing that

could something be broken with the slient dog lever?

You'll need to open it up, it could be a couple of things, I'm betting its your silent dog.
