Hi,

I have a vintage perfectly working Mitchell 300 spinning reel which is noisy when I reel in (designed that way of course with the clicker but not all bad) Just curious, can you silence it by removing a part and if so which one?

Thanks!

Not really. You can switch off the anti-reverse so the reel is quiet, and the either hold the handle or switch into anti-reverse mode once a fish strike. But the reality is those reels were noisy...

X2 They are noisy but thats just the way they are made.

They were made to keep you awake on night trips.

Someday I will work on my 306 from the 60's
I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

I've got a couple too and I use them every now and then,

I also replace and add cf drag washers. The light Cal's grease works better with these reels since most of the drag settings are around 3#s.

The added drag washer fits under the spool. Sometes there's a fiber and sometimes there are none and the drag is based on metal to metal contact.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D
