Hello Peter,
Do you mean the #5 and #13 gears in this diagram?

Hello George,
many thanks for the schematics.  :) Sorry, but I ment the gear ratio from the 27

Alto Mare

3:1 ratio  Peter. 25/26and 27 share the same gears. The 27 is a little lighter than the others. The 5-155 gear is small but has some nice teeth, compared to others.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Do you know if all the Monofil 27's came with a steel pinion and main gear? The one I picked up and restored has them, it also has a metal spool.

Alto Mare

I don't, maybe someone else could. All I can tell you is that I recently  purchased a few Penn parts and one of the bag had about (30) 5-155, all were steel.

Sorry, I misread you question, I thought you said if they came with steel gears only. Yes the did come with steel gears.

Thank you for your reply Alto. I thought I may of had something extra special with the steel gears and not brass, I guess not but I was happy to find the metal spool that came with the reel.
