Tyrnos 8 handle falls off after first trip, now what?

1st post been hot roddin' tld 25's for 4 yrs as per Alan, I recently bought a Tyrnos 8 off of ebay and first trip out, after catchin a few snapper up to 18lbs., on the way in 1-2ft chop get to the dock and the handle and drive shaft is gone. yes it was in t-top but not rough at all. Has anyone ever heard of this happening on the Tyrnos 1 speed models....? just took it apart and no broken parts, just the bolt that screws into the drive shaft still in middle of gear...? Now what? think Shimano will help, maybe discount..? About to call and price parts needed.  :-(

887-577-0600.  the last time this happened, they sent out all the parts for free.  it sort of depends on who you talk to and how you sound on the phone during those first 5 seconds.

I sent the reel into Shimano and all parts were free...and labor was $30.
