I am refering to the frames on the TLD series reels...have read that these frames can grow or distort with age.
Just wondering how much age we are refering to and is there anything that causes or accellerates this.
I have personally never known anyone with one of these reels who has experienced this.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I remembered Alan mentioning something about it.
See if this is helpful:

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

G'day Basto,
The TLD frames can swell very slightly over long time frames.
This can result in the spool shaft binding in the left side plate, like so: http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=5182.0
It can also cause the spool to rub slightly around the frame edges and require a little light sanding.
I've done both on numerous occasions (they're very common in NZ) and they're easy fixes.
To put the time frame in perspective, I bought my first TLD15 in 1986 and only in the past year (or so) have I had to file out the side plate very slightly to free up the spool shaft.
Hope that's of some assistance.
Cheers, Justin
