Isn't there a narrow version of the Long Beach 259?  I have a Long Beach 259 with 2.8:1 gear ratio.  It's the same size as the 500 (but parts are not compatable).  I tried   :(

I know you guys have the answer....

Bryan, the spools and reel feet are interchangeable.  So, you should be able to make a narrow 259 with a 501 spool, 30-49 reel foot, and 37-180 frame posts.  It would be a flashy looking frankenreel.  Or, give that lemon to me. ;) ;D

A 501 sized 249 would be a 110. All the parts are the same. What I can't believe hasn't happened is a 99 sized 249, or 110. This, with a Tib frame, aluminum spool, SS everything and a bunch of drag washers would make a fantastic live bait reel. I may someday do this, but I have a long laundry list of stuff to do first. I'm fine with slower reals, if nothing else they keep live bait alive longer.

I figure you mean the 259 and not 249.  But, yes, it'll look the same as a 110 senator.

I don't think so.  I have a Long Beach 259 that was my first Ulua Casting Reel filled with 50# mono.  I tried the 500 spool in my reel and the shaft length is different, and therefore, was no joy.  I was so hoping to have a aluminum spool...but NOT
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Odd, Penn Parts lists the spools as interchangeable between the two reels.  Hmmm, maybe you're right....
