Hello folks,
I was following some of the great tips on this site and servicing one of my reels.  The spool on my HXW was a bit overloaded with mono so I ended up getting some grease on the mono when I put the spool back into the frame.  Its a raptor version I'm using for shark fishing and every yard is potentially precious or I'd cut it off.  So now I'm wondering if I need to replace the topshot.

Will blue marine grease break down mono?
If so, how quickly?
What should I use to remove the grease from the mono?

Thanks for any advice.

it shouldn't hurt the monofilament.  peel off the line onto another reel, then crank it back on and clean the line with a towel if should be fine.
