Have some old chronarchs I would like to try to supertune. Was wondering if any of you had an easy way to polish the spool where the pinion gear rides. I don't have a lathe or any fancy tools just a dremel. What would work for me?

Bryan Young

I use a hand drill.

I place the spool's arbor in the drill and spin it while I take a fine file with oil and remove very little material.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

I believe that the tolerances on those Chronarchs are too close to remove any material as suggested by Bryan.

Use your dremel and POLISH the spool shaft, and the end of the shaft. So long as it is clean and free of oil, it will work really well.
Never was so much owed by so many to so few.
