Contacted our Penn parts guy today and asked if Penn still replace the injection moulded plates, no was the answer, so I will have to seek some out.

They said no because you altered it, or no they just don't do it anymore?
they should still take it back.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

I think it was too long ago...if it hasn't fail before, it's probably a good sideplate.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

I didn't say that I had altered it, they just said that they don't do it anymore.

I will pick up some plates sometime, just to be on the safe side.

Just as a matter of interest, what do you guys think about filling the voids with JB Weld? would that strengthen the plates?
