Penn Torque Lever Design

Does anyone know what makes the Penn Torque Lever's design different from other lever drags? For starters, it uses 6 big disks.

Looks like massive amounts of drag from a tiny reel.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

I'm thinking of getting one, but only if the design has eliminated the problem of the handle becoming harder to turn as you increase drag pressure (like the usual LD reels). I don't have any locally to check out.

Yes, i met the fellow who came up with the concept a few years ago. Nice guy. He is with Fin-Nor now.

Really, there is nothing i know of in the design or construction itself that prevents binding or crank sluggishness, but the great number of drag washers requires so much less pressure that the effect becomes essentially unnoticeable.

(The TRQ 30LD2 on the other hand, uses a thrust ball bearing in the spool)
