Penn 320gt2

Hi, guys. I'v been searching forums but have been unable to find a solution to my problem. I have a penn 320gt2 that I use for snagging and the pinon gear recently froze on me. I'v replaced it and the spool but now theres a rough grinding spot in the crank for about an 1/8th of an inch? Anyone have any idea what may be causing this. I reassembled it twice with no luck.

 did you also replace the main gear?  The pinion and main gear should be replaced in a set due to the wear pattern of both gears.

no I didnt, that must be what the problem is then. I can get another used reel for what I'd pay for the main gear/spool/pinion though. Thanks for the help.
