Does anyone know what company "Pure Fishing" is?  I got an odd charge on my account for this company.

Bucktail

Pure Fishing is:

Abu Garcia®, All Star Rods®, Berkley®, Fenwick®, Gulp!®, Johnson®, JRC Products®, Mitchell®, Penn®, Pflueger®, Shakespeare®, Spiderwire®, Stren®, Trilene®, Ugly Stick®, and XTools®.

Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Pure Fishing owned by Jarden or Darden..... all part of Coleman and Off bug spray and Mr. Coffee.  There must be only half a dozen people in the world who own everything!

I think they own water too. All of it.
And have a licensing agreement with god about rain.

Jarden owns Pure Fishing and Food Saver Vacuum Sealers and a host of other small appliance companies as well. With such a large part of the fishing market, one would think the self appointed guardians of commerce would be screaming about unfair trade practice. Must not be their ox getting gored.

Not in my job description. Besides, I use a lot of their stuff.

so we should be boyocotting the big conglomerate?

I've never had a problem with them.

Not to get too political, but this trend of these monolithic entities swallowing up all these smaller (but certainly not small) companies is not good for consumers or workers.  Consumers are hurt because it effectively limits competition, while still having the illusion of competition.  Workers are equally hurt by the lack of opportunity this stifling of competition creates.

Personally, I know several people who lost their jobs when companies like Shakespeare, Penn and Stren were taken over.  Unfortunately, I don't think this trend is going away any time soon. :-\

Me neither. Thank goodness most of the companies under their umbrella still turn out some acceptable products.

Yeah, I'm sure it's going to get worse before it gets better.
