Okuma spool cover tool....

Well, finally got a Titus 30 in that I can't crack the spool cover loose....

Yep, i know it is left hand threads...but no amount of twisting has helped...and I do realize there is a set screw on that cover..

Anyone have a supplier for the tool??

This is a relatively new reel...and I just don't want to ding the cover by using pliers, etc....

My go to tool for some Penns has always been vice grip filter wrench...

But I only use it if the hands are greasy (when aren't they!) and I just need a little help..

I use this rubber strap wrenches myself.

Unfortunately, the serrated edge of the cover is flush with the spool...the strap lays on the spool, not on the spool cover...

I imagine Okuma should be able to sell a tool..

you may have to drill two holes in the cap, then use a pair of needle nose pliers like a spanner wrench, stick the points in the cover and twist away!

Thanks to everyone....alll your suggestions were helpful.

I actually used a pair of vice grip oil filter pliers....after thoroughly taping the spool to prevent any damage...

It worked...but I still feel there has to be a tool somewhere..

Yes, Okuma sent me one....and I found it to be worthless.... 

It is short and stubby...and there is no way at all to get any leverage to use it.

It is also flimsy....and keeping the tabs aligned in the spool cover was futile..

Yes, I threw it away.....
