Can anyone post a pic of how the clutch camp spring sits in a Saltist 40? It's different than the 20 which I have done several of. This one I'm doing for a friend and it was broken and laying loose inside. It doesn't have a hole in the plate for the other hook end of the spring like the 20 does. So I hooked the one end to the hole in the lever arm and wedged the other end in the corner next to the post for one of the right side plate screw holes. It works but I'm Leary of it staying put. Thanks

The below is from a Z40, which sounds similar to what you're describing.
Hope it helps.

Good luck, Justin

Hard to tell on your first pic Justin whether there is a hole there in the side plate, but that is how I wound up setting it up. If you want to give me an email address I'll send a pic of the 20 which does have a hole, and really the only difference is the spring is reversed the other way. Sorry I'm dang near computer illiterate and don't know how to attach photos :)

From Keith:

Below is a pic of a Saltist 20 I had taken back when I did a few of these for friends.
This is the way I believe Daiwa sets them up because I consulted a couple 20s I was cleaning and lubing that didn't have broken springs, and below is how they are installed.

But for the 40 I had no reference, and without the hole the only way I could get it to work was to do it the way you showed.
Thanks for reaffirming I had done it okay, though I'm still leery that it will stay put without the end stuck in a hole.
I'm tempted to drill one! But I'll be along with him when he uses it on our trip so can get him back up and running if it fails.
