8/10/05 - fishing with noobs

my neighbor's son-in-law is visiting from LA. yeah, dodgers fan. so he wants to go fish. i say, "no problem." we launch this morning and head up to montara. i'm showing them how to rig whole squid. on their first drop, both my neighbor and his son-in-law get bird's nests. then they both get hung up in the rocks. i'm marking fish from top to bottom while i retie. they drop down with specific instructions to thumb the spool and bounce the bottom. well, we spent at least two thirds of our time trying to get unstuck or rerigging. we managed two lings, a huge cab, and six measley rockfish for 6 hours of fishing. i was marking fish everywhere!!!!!!!!!!! what a day....
