Massive NZ king caught in June

How's this?!
112lb+ (51kg) kingfish caught off the iconic NZ long-range boat 'Enchanter' a couple of months back.

A monster for sure!  nice to see it go back to get bigger.  The entire trip they had looked fairly epic to me.

Those Kings run a bit thicker than our California Yellowtail- what is the record?

As far as I'm aware, the record stands at 115lb (52kg) and was caught in the Bay of Plenty.
The largest speared was earlier this year in Northland. It weighed 110lb (49.8kg).

A bit old Basto....but the reel was an Okuma Cimeron 80 on a combo rod, combo approx $200....fishing is a great leveller
