It does not need to be resized, click on "Profile" on the blue bar above left, then "Forum Profile Information"  in the "Modify Profile" box to the left, then "I will upload my own picture" and "browse".  Locate the photo on your computer and double click on it, then scroll to bottom and hit "Change profile button on the lower right.

Or you can make a wish to the reel repair gremlins and see what happens.
