Hi,

I am working on this at the moment and typical Okuma - no schematics.

Anyway, the lever drag is very stiff and just skates with a jerky action.

I can't seem to locate any loading washers such as the bellville washers in the similar Shimano TLD reels.

The setup just seems to be rigid from one end of the spindle to the other and

I cannot see how a smooth drag could be possible with nothing to cushion the load.

Anyone experienced with Okumas who can shed some light on this?

OK Here are the schematics for this reel.

Anyone care to comment because I cannot find any loading washers in the schematics which actually do match the physical assembly of the reel I have.

And I am at a bit of a loss to understand how this design could actually work unless the drag material itself is compressible (it is quite thick).

for a reel like this, the drag is either on or off.  accurates are the same way.

Thanks Alan,

Here is a random Accurate schematic:

Part 47 described as beveled washer, would seem to be the compression washer for this reel just going off the schematics.

In the Okuma there is no equivalent part to provide compression to the drag system.
