another update for the past week
widen the gate
sicaflexed the boarding platforms at the rear
i think water was getting in around the bolts
i couldnt see the gps combo in the aussie sun
so i had to build a cover

just a bit of foam boncreted.
its strong enough to sit on.
cable on the left is for the vhf radio
so the cover is held in place with a bit of velco
easy to remove when i have to call up
cheers

the previous owner told me the fuel tank holds 130 litres
I estimate 175 litres
there is no fuel gauge
could someone help me out pls.

Here you go...
To calculate volume here you just need to calculate the surface area of the most complex side and multiply by the height and convert units.

The answer is = 115.39 l or 33.10 gals

For those interested this is how:

V(volume)=B(Area of base) X H(height)
B(Area of Base,Polygon) = R1(area of rectangle 1) +R2(Area of rectangle 2) +T1(Area of triangle 1)
Where:
R1=40cmX10cm=400cm ^2
R2=120X16cm=1920cm^2
T1=(110x24cm)/2=1320cm^2
So:
B=2322cm^2
And given H=54cm
V=2322X54= 125,388cm^3

Given coversion factors:
-1cm^3=0.001 liter
-1liter=0.264gal

Then,
V=125,388cm^3 X 0.001 liters/cm^3
V=125.39 liters

Or
V=125.39liters X 0.264liters/gal
V=33.10gals

Simple trig really...now if you have a container w/sides of unequal surface areas or even more complicated partial radii, then you need some more complicated calculus or differential equations to get the job done.

Hope that helps, and makes sense?

P.S I think I remember this question on my SAT test I took in 1992, I scored in the top 4% in the nation on the math part, hope I didn't get too rusty over the last 20.5 years.

hi  tl666
it dont seem right
i just made it cube shape and subtracted the triangle piece
40x54x120cm=259litres
24x54x120cm=155 litres
divided by 2=77litres
259-77=182litres give or take
175l to be safe
tl 666,can you have another go
cheers
tightlines=115litres

Tightlines:  Anyone who can understand that post has a sick mind.   :D  I tried to add 2 + 2 and came up with 37.  Me and numbers do not mix.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

hey dom
hire someone but not me  :D

Alto Mare

Sounds about right to me, I just did some calculations and came up with 32.5 gallons, but I rounded some small numbers. I did some job estimating today, so I don't want to deal with anymore numbers ;D.
My calculations are not as Tightlines, I did mine in a primitive way, but I usually get very close :-\.

hi sal
so you think115 litres
if i can get a couple to agree ill go with that
oh by the the way
that motor is to powerful for my boat

123 litres, based on 32.5 gallons

The way I did it was to covert to inches than feet.

Based on Tightlines 33.10 it would be 125.3 litres

If you set your trim tabs just right it will fly, I have the same motor. You will need that much power when the water gets tall ;).

Hi Wallace,
