Lubricating brake collars

Hey guys,
Got a quick question about oiling brake collars on my 100 series Curado's.
I have read several times that you should lubricate the collars. What is the recommended method to apply oil to them. Seems to me, if you were to put a drop of oil on each one of the posts, that the collars slide over, it would be too much oil.

Also, should I clean collars themselves, and how should I do that?

Your recommendations would be appreciated.

Hey Charlie.

The brake collars are easy enough to clean. Tooth brush and some soapy warm water will do the job. When they are back on the pins, you should apply a few drops of your chosen oil to a Q Tip, and dab this onto the end of the pin.Some do put a drop of oil on each pin, and that flows into the collar. If that is done, you must wipe all excess oil off. Prefer to do it my way though............it works 

I also use the oiled Q Tip to wipe the race on the brake case.

try thin pipe-cleaners -- more lint-free than a Q-tip; easier to clean inside anything tubular than w/ a toothbrush

You try and fit a pipe cleaner inside a break weight

I think they make pipe cleaners that small........that would be a small pipe cleaner though
