HOLEINTHEWATER

THIS IS THE AREA WHERE WE CAUGHT THE STRIPERS.

Nice pic.  Any of the stripers?  How big and what did you catch them on?

MOST STRIPERS WERE CAUGHT TROLLING WITH DEEP DIVERS. I HAD A TROUT IMITATION, WORKED THE BEST. MOST STRIPERS ARE IN THAT 2 TO 4 LB. RANGE. MOST OF THE BIGGER STRIPERS ARE GOING TO DIE OFF THIS WINTER.  LACK OF TREADFIN SHAD.  LAKE POWELL GOES THREW THIS CYCLE EVERY FEW YEARS.
THAT IS WHY THEY HAVE NO LIMIT ON STRIPERS. IF YOU CAN CATCH A 1000, IT IS GOOD FOR THE LAKE.
IN THE WINTER IS THE BEST TIME TO CATCH THE BIGGER STRIPER THAT SURVIVE, WITH DOWN RIGGERS.
I'M A WIMP WHEN IT COMES TO COLD.
THEY ARE GOING TO BE DOING SOME GILL NETTING SURVEYS THIS NOVEMBER TO CHECK ON THE HEALTH OF THE LAKE. THEY ALWAYS ASK FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP OUT, BUT TO COLD FOR ME.

Very nice.  I was out that way back about 12 years ago and fished on Lake Mead for stripers and largemouth.  For the stripers we fished with shiners (or something similar) about 120' down.  I do a lot of fishing for stripers here on the east coast, and I never in my life fished for stripers that deep.

It was an awesome experience fishing there though.
