Everyone,

Not long ago Alan (aka the Boss) and I were talking and Alan asked me what brought me to this site. After our discussion I still pondered his question and here it is. This site is like a "virtual" graduate studies "open lab" for master tinkerers/engineers where newbies to masters can perfect their skills and mix it up with the masters. I cant begin to tell you the amount of personal satisfaction and GROWTH Ive received here and I appreciate your patience and willingness to share and help. I believe I'd really enjoy the long range trip scheduled for next year and the opportunity to meet some of you. Heck, it ought to be fun just being "a fly on the wall" listening and watching you guys. To this day (over 30 years), Im so excited when I go fishing that I cant sleep before a trip and I dont think I would get much sleep if I went on this trip with those of you who are going. I KNOW that while traveling between fishing spots that you will be opening your reels to show others exactly what you have done and share thoughts. Id like to thank MelB for initiating the idea as well; way to go Mel. The recent motivation for this thank you comes from Keta/Lee's patience (hopefully I didnt use it all up) in explaining the theory of ops of the drag stack (along with others) with me. Again, thanx to all of you; for all of you contribute to a very unique "virtual lab" with no commercial advertisements thanx to Alan. Thought I had more to say but I will end it here.

Thanx,  :)

I've had to deal with the traveling public, state workers (my crew), boy scouts, 4H kids and a bone headed hot tempered wife for years, if I didn't have patience I would have pulled my hair out years ago.

I spent a few hours today going through my rods and reels for the trip trying to decide if I really need 5 40lb rigs ;D

I'm probably going to bring,
1-25lb
1 or 2 30lb
4- 40lb.... I might cut this down to 3 but I have some old rods I want to fish with.
1-60lb
1-80lb
And possibly a 50lb

I'll have a mix of 4 or 5 modern Avet 2 speed reels from an MX to a EX30 (I just sold my HX and picked up a HXJ Raptor for this trip and Pacific halibut) and my older Penn reels, at least 2 Surfmaster 100 or 150s, a 112HN and/or a 99 width Jigmaster, a narrow 113H "Tank" and 113/66 hybrid "Grouper Special", a 349H and a 114H.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Hey Lee,

While speaking with Alan, he wants to spend some time at Cedros for the Calico Bass for some lite line stuff that I think will be a hoot for some big Calico's. You may want to bring something in the 15/20# class as well. If Im not able to go; please someone other that Alan take some video and dont forget some of the good jokes you hear and the funny times you guys are going to have.
