1st time post long time lurker.

I inherited a beat up Penn 12T that was 2speeded by cal and had some drag work done that was really old and worn. The reel was thrashed!  I decided to rebuild this reel.  I added a Tip topless frame, new spool, side plate, new dura drags and plate. Put it all back together.  My question is how do I get the correct baseline measurements of the belv washers and reconfigure them to get the most drag I can with good freespool.

IE: caliper readings, adding thrust washers to tighten tolerances etc..

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

these older reels had alot of play in them.  just reassemble the reel and check the drags.  let's just see how it works.

Gotcha.  Got it all back together. Now at 230 tho for Bell stack |()() with one .010 shim and feels pretty good with reasonable free spool.  Now I just need to spool it up and see what the drag readings are.  Might be good for a 40 pound 2 speed reel, 65# spectra?. I wanted to add it to my Blackman skiff for a troller next to my 16s but might be a little on the light side.

Thanks!
