I started refurbishing old penn senator 116&117s 6 months ago and am hitting the 50 reel mark tonight!

I thought I would commemorate the occasion with a photo of reel #s 48,49,&50.

These 2-12/0s and 1-14/0 have been officially brought back from the dead.
After ~8hrs of work, they were:
1)disassembled
2)New parts, including upgraded drag stacks, bearings, tension/spacer washers, a new rod brace (and other rod brace parts), and a new rod clamp, were purchased and picked up
3)Bearing shields were removed and they were cleaned throughly with carb cleaner&air
4)All remaining parts were scrubed clean after soaking in engine degreaser.
5)Brass parts were then debured and buffed
6)All chrome parts were treated with a chrome specific phosphoric acid solution and polished
7)All other metal parts were soaked in corrosion X
8)Plastic parts were buffed, polished and waxed with mothers products
9)A SS metal spacer washer was added as needed under 1-12/0 gear sleeve
10)The parts are now layed out and ready to be
11)given the 'Tani' treatment, full greasing w/Penn and Cal's drag grease before
12)reassembly
13)Then I will set up the line spooling machine and spool em up with fresh line

I am hoping to earn about $150 for my 10-12hrs time, effort, and supplies utilized

Congratulations!

$150 for 10-12 hours of labor... It must be out of love for reels.

No, labor of love doesn't have a  price ;)
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Great work. I love the shine you brought out on them.

The bench, removable bench grinder, clamp, and reel spooling machine are all significant upgrades from working on the floor :). I do need some more parts storage containers to keep things organized, and am considering a bench top sonic cleaner.  I think I need a bigger place or more space before I consider an upgraded bench though.
