NEW AND NEED 6601 BCX HELP

HI GUYS IM NEW TO THIS SIGHT, IM FROM PGH PA ...GOT MY FIRST SET OF ABUS BUT DUES TO MY FINACIAL SITUATION I HAD TO GO WITH THE BCX  SERIES.......COUPLE QUESTIONS.....1. ANY TUTORIALS THAT YOU KNOW OF FOR CLEANING AND MAINTAINING  THESE REELS, IF NOT WHICH OTHER REEL TUTORIAL DO YOU THINK WOULD BE THE CLOSEST TO THE BCX'S?  AND 2. IM HAVING  AN ISSUE WITH THE PUSH BUTTON NOT COMPLETELY RE-ENGAGING WHEN I TURN THE HANDLE ....HAD A BUDDY LOOK AT THE ONE  HE SAID THERES A SPRING HE HAD TO SOME HOW MAKE TIGHTER NOT ENOUGH TENTION  UNFORTUNATELY I DIDNT LISTEN ALL THAT WELL WHEN HE TOLD ME WHAT HE DID...DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT? WHAT SPRING AND HOW DO YOU RE-TENTION IT?.

HOPE MY ALL CAPS DONT INSULT ANYONE BEEN ON SITES B4 WHERE THE GET MAD ABOUT IT .....IM NOT YELLING I JUST THINK IT LOOKS BETTER THAN ALL LOWER CASE AND IM TOO LAZY TO KEEP HITTING SHIFT.   THANKS   KENNY G

Hi, most folks get antsy about all caps... reason being it's ~way~ harder to read than lower case, plus the 'shout' thing. There are two springs you need to ensure are still in place... the two that look like big ball point springs, on the white pinion yoke.

If they are in position, you then need to look at the frame itself, where the thumb bar pin passes through, to engage the reel into cast mode. The BCX uses a metal that wears quite fast, meaning that the pin "galls" into the frame and plows a wider path. This makes for sluggish, or no cast engagement. The original slot in the frame is an animal hair wider than the pin. When worn, the slot is expanded up to 3 times the width, sometimes even more, in a sort of airfoil pattern, narrow at one end, and way wide at the other. (Teardrop)

As far as I'm aware, there is no tutorial for the BCX or the lipstick and mascera model, the Kalex.

You might want to have a quick look at SOL, Nimo has posted a stripdown of a BCX6600 that you can use to familiarize yourself with the internals - you can have the schematics KenD linked to open at the same time , should help quite a bit.
